POSITION:Research Support Assistant Level II-NL Grade 10
Salary: $30,760.00 + $3,026.00 Location Pay
 
DEPARTMENT:MOLECULAR IMAGING AND NEUROPATHOLOGY
 
DUTIES:The Department of Neuroscience is seeking a Research Support Assistant to be a coordinator for federally funded projects dealing with depression and predictions of suicidal behavior in mood disorders. Responsibilities include: 1) Coordinating a study recruitment, scheduling and paying of subjects, and generating study reports 2) Managing and preparation of study IRB protocols 3) Recruiting and screening of normal controls 4) Blood drawing (to be trained and supervised) 5) Transporting patients to the MRI suite at NYSPI MRI Facility and the PET Center at Milstein Hospital; obtaining vital signs and assisting with clinical care of patients at the PET Center 6) Monitoring of research charts 7) Administering EKG (to be trained and supervised) 8) Performing certain clinical measures on patients/normal controls (to be trained and supervised) 9) Preparation of manuscripts, and assisting with grant preparations and reports; 10) Attending weekly clinical evaluation core meetings
 
EDUCATION:BA or BS preferred.
 
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:Experience with research interviewing.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Psychology background preferred. Spanish speaking preferred. Good writing and editing skills. Comfortable around patients with depression/anxiety. Must be certified in phebotomy or obtain certification before drawing any blood samples.
