POSITION:Research Project Manager Level II-NL Grade 20
Salary: $53,037.00 + $3,026.00 Location Pay
 
DEPARTMENT:MOLECULAR IMAGING AND NEUROPATHOLOGY
 
DUTIES:This position is for an individual who reports directly to Dr. Arango (the Associate Director of the Division) and Dr. Underwood. The Research Project manager will perform the day-to-day implementation of the duties listed below which will be reviewed and supervised by Drs. Arango and/or Underwood. RESPONSIBILITIES: Grants and Contracts - Pre-Award: Prepare budgets and budget justifications with selected Principal Investigators in Drs. Arango/Underwood group, maintaining other support and biosketch pages for key department personnel, compiling and formatting applications to meet sponsor specifications, and working with grants management personnel of the Division, RFMH and CU to ensure timely submission of all required documents. Grant submissions - to be trained in the use of InfoEd and Rascal (on-line federal grants submission process) and submit grants for selected Principal Investigators in the Division. Grants and Contracts - Post Award: Compiling reports as required by sponsor, monitoring expenditures, preparing contract amendments, monitoring all accounts for over/under-spending and working with grants office to prevent/resolve problems, ensuring grants funding and expenditures remain on budget, arrange for proper filing of the P.I. grant applications. Proficient use of on-line monitoring software for RFMH (WebFTask) and CU (DARTS). IACUC/IRB - Protocol preparation with the selected PIs for submission to the appropriate office (on-line submissions for IACUC via Rascal), keep track of IACUC/IRB expiration and revision dates, and keep track of the Investigator's non-competing submission dates. Purchasing/Payables - Preparing or overseeing purchase requisitions in the ordering of all supplies, equipment, and services, paying invoices, complete pay orders for independent contractors and consultants, subject payments- overseeing petty cash disbursement or pay orders w/IRB protocol number (working with project coordinators), on Columbia University accounts, entering necessary information in AP/CAR system (to be trained in latter), maintain petty cash accounts in CU and RFMH, prepare travel vouchers, and follow-up on issues as needed. Reviewing with the Senior Administrator grant sources and allocation for expenses. Human Resources/Payroll - Preparing job descriptions and requirements for posting, submitting hiring paperwork and working closely with the RFMH and CU personnel offices, preparing visa documentation, submitting changes in account allocations, submitting requests for promotions, salary increases and other personnel changes, reviewing outside employment forms for NYPI employees, and preparation of termination paperwork. Reviewing funding sources with the Senior Administrator. Supervisory Responsibilities/Other - Responsible for coordinating the activities of lab staff, students and volunteers within the Department. This candidate will also oversee the department seminar series with the assigned PI, assist in organizing workshops and symposiums (i.e., scientific advisory boards, special meetings) for the Chief and PIs in the department.
 
EDUCATION:BA in public health, public administration, business, or other related field preferred.
 
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:3-5 years experience required. Strong analytic skills needed. Must be organized and detail oriented. Must be able to work independently, and have initiative, flexibility and problem-solving abilities. Must have financial management and budget experience.
