| DEPARTMENT: | CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY |
| DUTIES: | The Center for Suicide Risk Assessment seeks an experienced and motivated research scientist to participate in several suicide risk assessment-related projects. The Center's primary mission is to contribute to international drug-safety and suicide surveillance efforts by working with drug regulatory agencies and other international organizations on the assessment of suicidal ideation and behavior in clinical trials and numerous clinical, academic and governmental settings. The Center's Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) is used globally for the measurement and classification of suicidal ideation and behavior and has been mandated for use by the FDA in the evaluation of a number of drug classes. Given the importance of this public health topic, the Center frequently receives requests from the media to produce informed research interpretations for a lay or specialized audience. The Research Scientist's responsibilities will include suicide scale development, training other professionals on suicidality assessment, conducting suicide evaluation ratings, and supervision of junior research assistants. He/she will be primarily responsible for data analysis and interpretation of results leading to the submission of manuscripts regarding suicidality classification and suicide risk assessment in children, adolescents, and adults, as well as scale development and establishment of psychometric properties. The research scientist will also head an effort to develop web-based tools for training in suicide assessments. Finally, there is potential for the successful candidate to develop his/her own research projects within the larger realm of assessment of suicide. |
