POSITION:Research Support Assistant Level III-NL Grade 12
Salary: $34,347.00 + $3,026.00 Location Pay
 
DEPARTMENT:CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY
 
DUTIES:(This job posting is for two positions.) A full time research assistant is sought by the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University for a grant to address the validity of current and proposed diagnostic categories and criteria for child and adolescent psychiatric disorders by compiling and analyzing a large database of diagnostic and symptom data on children and adolescents. Duties include (but are not limited to): assisting with data analyses and compiling tables; assisting with data base management (interacting with investigators and other staff at numerous sites throughout the U.S.) data entry, and data storage; assisting with literature reviews; administrative duties; participating in and taking minutes at meetings, preparation of IRB application materials, arranging annual meetings with offsite co-investigators. It is understood that the person holding this position will, depending on the work burden at any one time, be free to participate in department events and presentations, including Child & Adolescent Grand Rounds, journal clubs, and evaluation and suicide luncheons.
 
EDUCATION:Master's Degree in Psychology or related field preferred, although we will consider other candidates depending upon their experience.
 
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:Strong oral and writing skills essential. Strong organization skills essential. Courses in statistics, measurement, research methods preferred. Experience entering data and generating analyses using SPSS or SAS preferred. Familiarity with DSM-IV and child/adolescent diagnoses and measures preferred.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Willingness to travel. Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary to meet deadlines. Drivers' license preferred.
