POSITION:Research Support Assistant Level III Grade 11
Salary: $32,522.00 + $3,026.00 Location Pay
 
DEPARTMENT:MOLECULAR IMAGING AND NEUROPATHOLOGY
 
DUTIES:Laboratory research in neurochemistry and human molecular genetics, including performing some basic laboratory assays involving techniques of gel electrophoresis, PCR, HPLC and biological organelle isolations under the supervision of the PI and the Lab supervisor. The work includes extraction (either manual or automation) of DNA or RNA samples from brain tissues, blood and cheek swabs, and processing of blood specimens and maintaining accurate logs of lab samples received, assayed and stored. The applicant will also be involved in data input and maintain a clean laboratory environment. Other regular laboratory duties as assigned.
 
EDUCATION:BA, BS or MS. Major in biological science preferred.
 
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:Preference given to applicant having a record of conducting some basic laboratory experiments related to the basic techniques of molecular biology such as gel electrophoresis and PCR. Good ability to handle pipettes with care and accuracy.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Strong organizational and technical skills. Must have the ability to work carefully with attention to detail and be able to work with others in the laboratory environment. A minimum two-year commitment is required, contingent upon continuous funding. Send resume with references.
